Community Alliance for Progressive Positive Action (CAPPA)
During the first quarter of 2018, any quarters dropped in the Sunday collection plate will be donated to the Community Alliance for Progressive Positive Action (CAPPA).
This Youth Intervention and Development Program was created out of a need to provide opportunity for underserved youth. CAPPA is a 501-C3 non-profit organization.
CAPPA has been in existence for sixteen years, providing comprehensive programs for children living in Williamsport and surrounding communities. An average of 48 children participate weekly. The After-School Program operates Monday through Friday 3:30-6:30pm in The CAPPA Neighborhood Network Technology Center located at 734 West Fourth St. CAPPA uses evidence based curriculums administered by staff and skilled trainers from local area colleges. CAPPA provides a healthy snack and dinner every day.
It is CAPPA’s mission to enable each participant to attain a vision and to develop personal goals that will move them to become successful, happy and productive citizens.
CAPPA also provides a Summer Counts Program. The program is designed to prepare students in grades 1 – 7 for the upcoming school year as well as to engage them in a fun-filled motivational summer program. The program runs Monday through Friday – 9:00am to 3:30pm. It consists of academic enrichment that will give the children a jumpstart on the upcoming school year.
CAPPA became a PA State Child Care Center in 2017. CAPPA is a well-planned program, with a compassionate, committed staff and community volunteers and is the recipient of many awards.
During January, February and March, shake those accumulating quarters and let CAPPA put them to good use for the youth of Williamsport.
