Mission of the Month

Greater Lycoming Habitat For Humanity

The next build will be the double home in the Bro-Dart Neighborhood Improvement Project. It will complete the commitment to that partnership. The home will be a double and will look very similar to the most recently constructed single homes. They are in the process of finding qualified families to partner with Habitat. If you know of a family who would qualify for a Habitat home, contact them at 570-322-2515. This house will be partially funded by a CHODO grant from the City of Williamsport.

Habitat will pursue funding through Lycoming County to start a critical repair program. This program will address safety, code and accessibility issues with local homeowners. The purpose of the program is so Habitat can serve more people. The benefit to our community is that people can remain in their homes and remain homeowners supporting the community.

The Habitat ReStore is doing great! They exceeded the previous year’s sales this year by $30,000. The goal of the ReStore is to support Habitat operations and they are almost there. The move to the new location was very successful. Business has increased quite a bit and is still on the rise.

Donations to the ReStore are the lifeblood of Habitat. Without donations, we would not be able to increase our sales which would mean there would be less money coming in to support what Habitat does in the community.

As always, Habitat is looking for volunteers to help support their mission. Not just construction volunteers, but also volunteers to help in the ReStore and on committees, the board and everything else that they do. Anyone interested in volunteering for Habitat should contact Arion Moser at 570-322-2515.

Thank you for your generous support of Habitat with your Mission giving this month.
